We are so excited to announce our next performance opportunity here at TAS+SD.
This one is for 8-12 year old actors who REALLY want a BIG PART! As big as the BFG (Big Friendly Giant)!
Younger performers yearn for leading roles in productions at school and in the community, but they often find that those principle roles go to older students. THE BFG PROJECT at TAS+SD is a perfect opportunity for younger actors to really delve into the process of developing a principle role.
Lead by Wendy Maples and Courtney Corey, our BFG troupe will spend three weeks rehearsing The BFG: Set of Plays, based on the story by ROALD DAHL and adapted for the stage by David Wood. We will work together to create a life size giant puppet and each actor will be cast in a principle role in one of the plays. There is no audition to participate in this project, as we want to be sure every actor has an opportunity.
Rehearsals will be held at Theatre Arts School of San Diego studios on the following dates:
FRIDAY, FEB. 23 from 4:45-6:45
SUNDAY, FEB. 25 from 1:00-4:00

Some notes on The BFG Project at TAS+SD:
We prefer that actor conflicts for the rehearsal period are minor, as we only have a short rehearsal process. If your child would like to be in The BFG Project, but has minor conflicts, please email us at: Courtney@TheatreArtsSD.org and we will take a look at the schedule.
On the first day of rehearsal, we will get to know our actors through fun acting exercises and improv games. We will assign the cast list after the first day of rehearsal. All actors will be provided with a script on the first day of rehearsal.
The tuition fee for The BFG Project includes all instruction, puppet-making materials, props, etc... Actors will wear simple "costumes" which they can pull from their own wardrobe and/or can be supplemented with things out of our own stock. There will be no need to purchase additional costumes for the project.
Parents do not need to volunteer in order for their child to participate, however, we will always welcome the extra help if you wish to lend a hand.
We will not be selling tickets for this performance project. We welcome our theatre guests to enjoy the performance at no cost.
IMPORTANT! There are no refunds for any performance projects at Theatre Arts School of San Diego. If for any reason your child is not able to participate and you have already made the tuition payment, we will give you a full credit for future classes/projects at TAS+SD.
We would love to answer any questions you or your child may have. Please email us at: Courtney@TheatreArtsSD.org for more info.
