Explore your fierceness with the KAMOCHI METHOD this summer at Theatre Arts School of San Diego! Tony Award Nominee Karine Plantadit and Broadway Veteran Michelle (Mochi) Camaya Julian will work with a select group of performing artists ages 12-18 in a three day intensive for the musical theatre performing artist that will support and enhance each participant’s mind, body, and spirit. In this program, musical theatre performers will primarily focus on movement and dance, but will also engage in other components of the musical theatre genre, including voice and acting.

The KAMOCHI METHOD is a practice that uniquely synthesizes established dance techniques with sacred yoga teachings to support and nurture the individual and the artist within. The KAMOCHI METHOD is based upon 3 foundational principles:
- Breath
- Alignment
- Vow

These principles work together to center the individual, bridge the individual with the artist, and ultimately create a balanced being capable of adapting to and thriving within an ever-changing performing arts environment.

From TAS+SD Director, Courtney Corey:

“Competition is intense for today’s performing artists in the musical theatre world. The bar has continued to rise over recent years in terms of the skill level young artists bring to the audition room. So, how should a casting director choose the best fit for a project or collegiate program? They are not only looking for talent. They are seeking artists who perform with passion. They are looking for healthy, confident, and grounded individuals that will work well in a challenging environment. They are looking for performers who bring their authentic and unique selves to the story. The KAMOCHI METHOD FOR PERFORMING ARTISTS is a truly exquisite program that will not only help artists achieve a higher skill set, it will help them to become  well-rounded artists who can sustain a fulfilling and lifelong careers in the arts.”

TESTIMONIALS

“WOW! We were so impressed with the Kamochi Method intensive. It taught our daughter to be more in touch with her inner self and learn how to express that through dance. It dug deep into our daughter’s heart. She is still referring to the things she learned and has a different focus in this daily routine of hers. It was a very intimate dance experience that these girls will have for a lifetime! Thank you Kamochi for everything.” -Lindsey (Parent)

“I learned to find myself in my art.” - Ryan (Participant)

“You are helping these kids find themselves, their goals and dreams, and giving such inspiring mentorship. Amazing!! Truly Amazing! What a gift.” -Lynn Dee (Parent)

“I would tell other families that the Kamochi Artist Boot Camp is a “must-attend” as it helps each individual learn and grow as an artist in broader ways than other intensives... Thank you so much for a wonderful experience! We can’t wait for next year! -Olivia (Parent)
