PROP-MAKING WITH 3-D IMAGINARY CREATURES
September 19 - November 7, 2017 (8 week course)

Express yourself by bringing imaginary creatures to life in this hands-on prop making class! As students imagine their creatures, they will utilize visual art, music/voice/sound, dance/movement, poetry/writing, drama/theater into an interdisciplinary framework with an emphasis on creative process. They will incorporate a variety of art supplies and tools to build three-dimensional versions of their creations. Continued work adds storytelling, improvisation, and writing techniques to enhance the world of these creatures.
The teaching method for this class is based in Expressive Arts techniques which allow students to focus is on the process of making art and exploring what the piece means to the individual. The artist is immersed in a creative dialogue with art and art-making.
The class will culminate in a showcase for family and friends.
FASHION AND COSTUME DESIGN CLASS
September 9 - October 28
Saturdays 12:30-2:30 or 3:00-5:00 (two sessions available to choose from)
Instructor: Nihura Montiel
Learn how to design and create your own fashions and costumes! Taught by designer, Nihura Montiel, students will learn sketching, draping, pattern-making, and sewing in this unique class for kids and teens! At the end of the course, all students will present their final designs on the catwalk in their very own Fashion Show!
Class fee: $375 (includes use of sewing machine, cutting board, mannequin, and fabrics provided in class)
Supply fee: $25 (keep your own sewing kit, sewing apron, and sketch binder)
