EMOTIONAL INTELLIGENCE FOR YOUR ACTING PRACTICE - FOR TEENS!
SUNDAY, MAY 5 from 1:30-4:00pm

In this Sunday afternoon workshop, we will explore the role of emotional intelligence in humans as it relates to your acting practice. You will gain an understanding of specific tools in your “actor’s toolbelt” that you can readily utilize as you create and develop characters. These tools will help you step into character with more authenticity and confidence, and also step out of character to maintain a healthy wellbeing. This is a de-colonized approach to acting technique, as it draws from the collective human experience and asks each practitioner to access tools they already possess. You are already a storyteller! Exploring emotional intelligence will allow you to tell your stories more effectively.

For class, please bring any current material you are working on:

  • song lyrics (we won't be singing)

  • scene

  • monologue

  • sonnets

  • poems
You will also be provided with material to use in class. You do not need to prepare anything ahead of time.
