TAS+SD offers top-notch theatre arts training here in San Diego.  We have ongoing classes in acting and musical theatre, summer camps, dance and vocal intensives, design workshops, and a Conservatory Program.  We also offer performance opportunities, as well as fantastic master classes throughout the year taught by San Diego and Broadway's best.  Please refer to the Registration Info page for full details on the registration process.

Students explore the world of theatre by using their “imagination muscles” through fun-filled theatre games and activities.  With theatre games, there are no winners or losers – creativity and fun take center stage!

ELEMENTS OF ACTING - GROUNDWORKS Class, Ages 9-11

Saturdays 10:00 - 10:55

Students delve into the world of acting with scene work and monologues, as well as improv and theatre games.  This class provides students with a solid foundation of acting technique, while allowing them to gain confidence and freedom as young actors.

ELEMENTS OF ACTING - SCENE STUDY Class, Ages 11 and up

Wednesdays 4:15 - 5:10

Students work with their director/instructor to create authentic and dynamic characters in the context of performing scenes from published plays.  This class provides young student actors with important and relevant acting tools such asimagination and observation, listening skills, focus and concentration, action and reaction, script analysis, and more!

ELEMENTS OF ACTING - MONOLOGUE Class, Ages 13 and up

Saturdays 9:00 am - 9:55am

This class is geared for students preparing for admission to college theatre programs and professional / semi-professional auditions.  Students will develop solo pieces in a group environment, utilizing fellow students to help bring more authenticity to their characters.  Using pieces from published works, students will further their acting techniques and gain a broader knowledge of playwrights, periods, and styles.

Tuesdays 5:15 - 6:10

Children have a natural aptitude for singing.  This class gives them the skills to discover their musical gifts.  Students study the cornerstones of healthy singing technique:  postural alignment, breath support, ear training, and sound placement.  Many different music styles are utilized, such as musical theatre, pop, jazz, country, and world music.

FOUNDATIONS OF SINGING Class - LEVEL TWO, Ages 9 and up

This is the second level to Foundations of Singing - Level 1.  Students who have not taken Level 1, but are the appropriate age for this class, may enroll in level 2 directly.  Students explore more detailed work on healthy singing technique:  postural alignment, breath support, ear training, and sound placement.  Many different music styles are utilized, such as musical theatre, pop, jazz, country, and world music.  In Level 2, there is a stronger emphasis on solo performance.

MUSICAL THEATRE VOCAL STYLES Class, Ages 10 and up

Perfect for the student who loves Broadway!  Each month, students discover an influential composer and lyricist in American musical theatre such as Sondheim, Schwartz, Gershwin, Porter, Lerner and Lowe, Rodgers and Hammerstein, to name a few. Students will gain a better knowledge of each composer’s musical style by learning and performing repertoire.

FASHION AND COSTUME DESIGN CLASS - Eight week course for several age groups:

Saturdays (March 4, 11, 18, 25, April 1, 8, 15, 22), Ages 10-17 from 12:15-3:35 (makeup class on April 29)

Saturdays (March 4, 11, 18, 25, April 1, 8, 15, 22), Ages 10-17 from 3:30-6:30 (makeup class on April 29)

Tuesdays (March 7, 14, 21, 28, April 4, 11, 18, 24), Ages 18+ from 5:00-8:00 (makeup class on May 1)

FASHION SHOW FOR ALL CLASSES ON MAY 20th @ 6:30PM

Instructor:  Nihura Montiel

Learn how to design and create your own fashions and costumes! Taught by designer, Nihura Montiel, students will learn sketching, draping, pattern-making, and sewing in this unique class for kids and teens!  At the end of the course, all students will present their final designs on the catwalk in their very own Fashion Show!  

Class fee:  $375 (includes use of sewing machine, cutting board, mannequin, and fabrics provided in class)

Supply fee:  $25 (keep your own sewing kit, sewing apron, and sketch binder)

Tailored Theatre Learning

for Home Schooled Students (YEAR-ROUND)
